Candidate Comparison

Lisa and community member at Parmenter event
Lisa Janairo for Mayor

There are several opportunities to compare the candidates’ qualifications, preparedness, understanding of the issues, and ability to communicate.

FIRST, watch the candidates on these recordings of the Candidate Forums: (1) one hosted by the Middleton Review on February 22 and (2) a second one hosted by the Middleton Democrats on March 4. After both events, the consensus remains that Lisa Janairo is clearly the more knowledgeable, more prepared, and more serious candidate.

SECOND, Middleton High School newspaper, The Cardinal Chronicle, interviewed both Lisa and the incumbent. Click here to read the excellent work done by these students and read what Lisa shared in her engaging conversation with The Cardinal Chronicle student reporter.

THIRD, click here to read the Letters to the Editor that have appeared in local newspapers. In the local newspapers, at least 26 letters of support have been published, all written by Middleton residents from across the city.

Many of those who wrote these letters have worked with both Lisa and the current Mayor, so they have first-hand knowledge of the important differences between the two candidates. (As of March 26, there are only a few letters supporting the incumbent. None of those writers have worked with both candidates.)

FOURTH, Channel 3000 interviewed each candidate twice early in their campaigns. These interviews show the stark differences between the two candidates, their grasp of the issues, and their ability to communicate. As she explains in her interviews, Lisa Janairo has a well-informed vision for the City of Middleton. View the videos below to hear each candidate’s vision and priorities, in her own words.

Additional Candidate Comparisons

A FIFTH way to compare the candidates is to read their responses to questionnaires from the organizations whose links are listed below. Click on the links to read Lisa Janairo’s responses. Again, Lisa’s thoughtful responses reveal a distinct contrast.

A SIXTH way to compare the candidates is to see how they communicate with constituents. Lisa Janairo publishes a highly acclaimed free e-newsletter every month. Residents praise Lisa’s e-newsletter for educating them on city issues and making government more transparent. Click here to learn more and to read recent issues. The incumbent does not produce a newsletter or any similar communication.

A SEVENTH way to compare the candidates is to observe them in Common Council meetings or in city Committee meetings. Lisa Janairo is described by her colleagues as one of the most prepared, effective, and articulate elected officials they have worked with. All meetings are open to the public. Plus, they are recorded and videos are on YouTube. Click here to learn about the city meeting agendas and schedule. And click here to see recordings of city meetings.

Perhaps the best way to compare the candidates, though, is to meet them or talk to them on the phone. To get to know Lisa, feel free to contact her at lisajformayor@gmail.com or call (608) 630-7500.
